We are delighted to share that all 12 Doctoral Candidates (DCs) have now started their positions within the RePIM Doctoral Network. With researchers based across the eight participating academic institutions, the full RePIM doctoral cohort is now in place and beginning work on a wide range of questions concerning the future of Public Interest Media.

Our Doctoral Candidates page has also been updated, where you can meet the researchers, learn more about their backgrounds and discover the individual PhD projects that together make up the RePIM research programme.

With the full cohort now on board, preparations are also well underway for RePIM Training Module 1, which will take place in Brussels from 16–20 November 2026. This will be the first opportunity for the Doctoral Candidates, supervisors and other members of the network to come together in person for a full week of training and exchange.

The programme will combine introductions to the network and practical aspects of the doctoral programme with PhD project presentations and feedback, academic training and sessions on key challenges facing Public Service and Public Interest Media. Part of the programme will take place at VRT, giving the DCs the opportunity to engage directly with perspectives from a Public Service Media organisation.

The week will also include the first RePIM Industry Day, bringing together invited representatives from academia, media, policy and the wider RePIM network for a forward-looking discussion on the future of Public Interest Media. The training module will conclude with time for supervisory meetings and team-building activities.

We look forward to welcoming the full RePIM community to Brussels and to marking the start of this next phase of the project.
